Medical documents and your private vault

Keep documents with the right patient profile, then choose what to send when a request or conversation needs it.

Store first, share deliberately

You can upload patient documents without starting a request. Uploading a report into your private vault does not deliver it to a Provider. Sending it with a request or message is a separate action.

What private storage means

Access to privately stored documents follows the patient profile’s authorized access. Participating Providers do not get access to the whole vault. A Provider receives only document versions delivered to it through an authorized flow.

A document can have different versions

Replacing file content creates a new version. A request or message refers to the exact version you selected to send. Adding a replacement does not automatically send that version to a Provider.

When a file is unavailable

A file may be temporarily unavailable while required checks or processing are incomplete. A rejected file may not become available, and a deleted version is no longer available on the platform. Current permissions also affect whether it can be opened or sent. Follow the information shown for that file and use the related Help guidance for the next step.

Next: send selected documents to one Provider

When you are ready to share, choose the intended Provider relationship and the document version needed for that request or message. Learn what delivery means before sending, including the boundary around copies a Provider saves outside ShifaTH.
