Appointments in ShifaTH
A preferred time starts a discussion. An official appointment is a separate record created through the authorized Provider or platform process.
Request an appointment
Tell the Provider what you need and which dates or times you prefer. Sending that request does not mean the time is booked or the selected professional is available.
Understand confirmation
The official appointment is recorded by an authorized Provider member or through an authorized platform workflow. Use its recorded date, time and time zone to understand the schedule. A preferred time or automatically detected date in a document is not official confirmation by itself.
Request changes through the conversation
Ask for a reschedule or cancellation in the relevant conversation. An authorized Provider member or platform coordinator updates the official appointment. A message requesting a change does not itself change the record. Cancelling a request does not automatically cancel an appointment stored separately.
Appointment status and attendance are different
An appointment can be scheduled, cancelled or completed. A completed appointment does not prove that the patient attended. Attendance is recorded separately and may need confirmation or review.
After the visit: an eligible review
Confirmed attendance can make the person who created the related request eligible to review that visit under ShifaTH’s review rules. Appointment confirmation alone does not qualify. “Verified” refers to confirmed attendance, not verified clinical quality.
Clinical care remains with the Provider
ShifaTH helps organize the appointment relationship. The Provider remains responsible for clinical decisions and care. ShifaTH does not promise instant booking or control of the Provider’s own scheduling system.
